Abigail “Abby” Kirkman, proprietaria di una fumetteria, crede che la sua vita sia completa. Il suo lavoro ha successo, possiede un fantastico appartamento sopra al negozio e vive in un pittoresco paese in riva al mare. La vita è perfetta se non si considera l’insonnia e il fatto che il suo ultimo ragazzo l’ha scaricata per una promozione in un’altra città. Insomma alcuni piccoli problemi, ma nulla che non possa gestire.
La vita di Abby viene capovolta quando scopre Jasper Lee, un autore steampunk, addormentato nella corsia dei supereroi. Affetto da una rara malattia chiamata narcolessia, Jasper si addormenta improvvisamente nei luoghi e nei momenti più impensati e grandi picchi d’emozione gli scatenano attacchi cataplettici – causando la perdita del tono muscolare e il conseguente collasso.
Potrà Abby rischiare di amare qualcuno che potrebbe “crollare” per un bacio?

Wow, what a beautiful novel!
I have never read before about this type of illness. It’s really strange to think of how many diseases people suffer without other knowing it. It’s really beautiful when an author shows to her readers something real. Something that can be important for everyone to know and at the same time she does it through a sweet and original love story.
The main characters are Abby and Jasper, respectively a comic book store-owner and a sci-fi writer, that stumble into one another when Jasper fall asleep on the floor of the superhero aisle. The strange experience bring the two throught a relationship that grows more and more, between hilaruoius scenes and other obviously less so. A story complicated by his problem but also for the return of her ex-boyfriend, an FBI agent who doesn’t seem to accept the word “no”. Until they find in each other what they were looking for. The only criticism I can think of is about the end of the book that close the book a little too fast…but it’s really a little point. 😉

Wow, che bel romanzo!
Non avevo mai letto prima qualcosa legato a questo genere di malattia.
E’ davvero strano pensare a quante persone soffrono di malattie che ai più sono sconosciute. Ed è davvero bello quando un autore insegna ai propri lettori qualcosa. Qualcosa di importante per tutti da sapere.
E allo stesso tempo lo fa attraverso una storia d’amore dolce e originale.
I personaggi principali sono Abby e Jasper, rispettivamente proprietaria di una fumetteria e scrittore di fantascienza, che inciampano l’uno nell’altro quando Jasper viene trovato addormentato sul pavimento della corsia dedicata ai fumetti dei supereroi. La strana esperienza porterà i due verso un rapporto che crescerà sempre più importante, tra scene divertenti e altre un pò più serie. Complicato a causa della situazione di Jasper, ma anche a causa del ritorno del ex-fidanzato di Abby, agente dell’FBI che non accetta un no come risposta.
Fino a quando i due troveranno l’uno nell’altro ciò che stavano cercando.
L’unica critica che posso fare al romanzo è per la fine un po’ troppo veloce… ma è un punto davvero piccolo.
Per il resto si tratta di un romanzo veramente valido, trattandosi di un’esordiente. 😉
